Previous Events

St Ninians Primary School Visit

Committee member Wendy Garcia gave a presentation at St Ninians Primary School to pupils about Kings Park. This led to pupils from years 3 & 4 coming to the park with their teacher Laura and 3 helpers on Wednesday 26th June. The pupils had brought with them a mixture of cosmos and fennel plants which they had grown from seed.

July 2024

Laura divided them into 2 groups and one group, with the support of Hector, planted and watered their tiny plants into the three box planters, next to the changing rooms. The other group, Lidia took to the Peace of Mind Garden for some weeding. In the short time available they attacked the weeds with relish. The children’s enthusiasm and curiosity were a joy to work with. They were keen to learn and, despite the rain, showed an interest in gardening which we hope will continue.

Kings Park Mosaic Walk

Saturday 11th May 2024

You may have noticed small concrete blocks with mosaic panels on the front of each block, dotted around Kings Park. They form a heritage trail that illustrates part of the history of the park and were conceived by the Friends of Kings Park. The panels were created in 2011 from artwork by the students of St Modan's High School and the project was supervised by artist Meredith Crone.

Each panel has a story to tell so, in conjunction Stirling 900, marking the 900th anniversary of the Burgh of Stirling, the Friends of Kings Park organised a walk on 11th May to discuss the stories behind the mosaics.

The walk centred around the perimeter of the playing field, stopping at each of the mosaics to tell the story behind each. A few examples of the mosaics include: 1911 Circuit of Britain Air Races; Park Loch; Stirling Wolf; James IV. Finally the walk finished up at the Pavilion and discuss the history of the Pavilion and how it has been used in the past.

A detailed description of the mosaics can be found here
